First-ever Family Support Expo in Mississauga this weekend

A unique trade show will take over the International Centre in Mississauga this weekend, offering face-to-face advice for individuals and families coping with mental health and medical issues as well as divorce.

The Family Support Expo — the first event of its kind in North America — runs Saturday and Sunday and offers a wide array of experts, including mental and medical health professionals and family lawyers, , and information.

“Frequently when people are struggling they look for help and they end up going through websites, and reading information and making phone calls but the trade show is about helping people on a face-to-face basis,” Stephen Rosefield, CEO of the Family Support Expo, told Breakfast Television.

Rosefield says with increasing rates of mental health issues in both children and adults and with four in 10 marriages ending in divorce, an event like this is needed more than ever.

“If we don’t do something about becoming more nurturing as a society, it’s going to be very difficult and 10, 15 or 20 years.”

The Family Support Expo runs Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Click here for more information.
