Three children remain in hospital after van hits Alberta school

The driver of a minivan that crashed into a rural Alberta school, seriously injuring three students, is facing multiple charges.

RCMP say Richard Edward Benson, who is 46, is charged with dangerous driving, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.

Police say they are waiting on toxicology tests taken after the driver was arrested.

Three Grade 6 girls who were most seriously hurt remain in hospital in Edmonton.

RCMP Sgt. Josee Valiquette says they are all stable, although two are still in critical condition.

The crash happened Thursday at Racette Junior High School in St. Paul.
