Two charged after teen stabbed outside Scarborough library

Two males are facing multiple charges including attempted murder, after a stabbing at a Scarborough library.

The incident happened on Thursday around 3:30 p.m.

An altercation allegedly took place outside the Cederbrae Library on Markham Road.

During the altercation two males were stabbed.

Const. Tony Vella told The Toronto Star a 17-year-old boy was swarmed by a four of males in front of the library and stabbed twice.

The boy was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

A second person suffered minor injuries during the altercation and was treated at the scene.

Hassan Baig, 19, of Toronto has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault and robbery.

The second male charged is a young offender who cannot be named. He has been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
