2 women sexually assaulted at knife-point in Avenue & Lawrence area home

A man posing as a newspaper salesperson forced his way into a north Toronto home and sexually assaulted two women at knife-point on Monday morning.

The assaults took place in the Avenue Road and Lawrence Avenue West area around 10 a.m.

The victims were aged 25 and 30. One of the them was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the women answered a knock on their door and were greeted by a man trying to sell newspapers.

“The man forced his way into the home, armed with a knife, and sexually assaulted both women,” police said in a release. “A struggle ensued and the man sustained a wound to the torso.”

The suspect then fled on foot.

He’s described as white, five-ten to six-feet tall, medium build, short, dark hair and clean shaven.

He was last seen wearing a black nylon jacket, black pants, and a grey shirt. He was also carrying a white bag.

The suspect was not known to the women.

A neighbour, who didn’t want her name used, said she captured the suspect on her home surveillance system.

“He looks directly into our video camera and goes in the house and he’s in the home for about 10 minutes.

“It was almost like he was posing, looking into our video camera.”
