Images of suspect in Avenue & Lawrence sex assaults released

Police have released two security camera images of the suspect accused of forcing his way into a north Toronto home and sexually assaulting two women at knifepoint on Monday morning.

The assaults took place in the Avenue Road and Lawrence Avenue West area around 10 a.m.

The victims, who are sisters, are aged 25 and 30. One of the them was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the women answered a knock on their door and were greeted by a man trying to sell newspapers.

“The man forced his way into the home, armed with a knife, and sexually assaulted both women,” police said in a release. “A struggle ensued and the man sustained a wound to the torso.”

The suspect then fled on foot.

The victims’ neighbour Debra, whose home caught the suspect on a front-door security camera, believes he targeted them.

“He literally walks past the house 30 seconds after the husband walk out the door,” she told CityNews. “”He then waited a long enough time to watch the husband leave to make sure he had driven out of the neighbourhood to go back to the house.”

The suspect is described as white, five-ten to six-feet tall, medium build, short, dark hair and clean shaven.

He was last seen wearing a black nylon jacket, black pants, and a grey shirt. He was also carrying a white bag.

The suspect was not known to the women.
