It’s being pegged as one of the biggest trades in the history of the Toronto Blue Jays franchise, and fans of the blue birds are hoping the blockbuster deal with the Miami Marlins with have an immediate impact on the field.
Heading to Toronto are pitchers Josh Johnson and Mark Buehrle, shortstop Jose Reyes, infielder Emilio Bonifacio, and catcher John Buck.
In return Toronto is shipping away shortstop Yunel Escobar, infielder Adeiny Hechavarria, pitcher Henderson Alvarez, catcher Jeff Mathis and prospects Anthony DeSclafani, Justin Nicolino and Jake Marisnick.
The Jays haven’t had a lot to cheer about since winning back-to-back World Series’ in ’92 and ’93, but fans and sportscasters alike are projecting the trade will turn them into instant contenders.
