Fate of Toronto Zoo’s elephants

Toronto’s last three elephants may be spending yet another winter at the city zoo amid more squabbling at city hall and the zoo board about the fate of Iringa, Toka and Thika.

The city’s executive committee recently voted to let Toronto Zoo staff decide where the elephants should live, even though city council voted last year to move the animals to a sanctuary in California.

Many councilllors and animal rights activists, including former game show host Bob Barker, have been pushing to get the animals moved to the PAWS (Performing Animal Welfare Society) sanctuary in northern California.

Should the elephants remain at the Toronto Zoo, be moved to the sanctuary or another zoo?
