2 violent home invasions in GTA

Police are searching for several suspects after two separate armed home invasions in Vaughan and Toronto’s York West on Tuesday morning, including one that sent a man to hospital.

Officers were called to a house in Kleinburg around 4:30 a.m. after four masked men burst into the home on Treelawn Boulevard, near Islington Avenue and Teston Road, and attacked a 50-year-old man. At least one of the intruders had a gun, police said.

The victim was taken to a Toronto hospital and has since been released. There were two women and a boy in the house at the time of the attack, and they weren’t hurt.

There’s no word on what, if anything, was taken from the home.

A Toronto police canine unit assisted York officers in the search for suspects. There have been no arrests.

Hours later, police were called to the scene of another home invasion, this time in the Highway 401 and Weston Road area.

Three masked men, including one armed with a knife, forced their way inside a home on Lovilla Boulevard around 10 a.m.

The intruders, who were wearing balaclavas and gloves, ransacked the home and made off with some jewelry and a gaming system. A 41-year-old woman was home alone at the time. She was unharmed.

No arrests have been made.
