Traffic stop leads police to Pickering grow-op

What started out as a traffic stop has led to a $2.8-million marijuana grow-op bust in Pickering.

Around 10:45 p.m., Monday, Durham police conducted a traffic stop on Brock Road.

Police say they found a large quantity of cash and numerous bags of fertilizer in the vehicle.

Information attained led police to an industrial area on Dillingham Road where they located a grow-op containing about 2000 plants.

Police say two people were arrested at the scene without incident.

Jing Xuan Jiang, 48, of Markham and Man Tung Li, 41, of Toronto have been charged with production of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The Drug Enforcement Unit has taken over the investigation.
