Full rollout of Presto fare cards on TTC by 2016

The TTC has signed an agreement with provincial transit agency Metrolinx to roll out the Presto fare card system at all subway stations and on buses and streetcars by 2016.
Presto is already used at 14 TTC stations.
The deal means commuters will soon be able to travel seamlessly through eight transit systems across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.
The Presto system is already in place at all GO Transit stations and on all GO buses.
“I am very pleased to sign these agreements today on behalf of the TTC. We see the introduction of a smartcard and the construction of the four LRT lines as key elements of our program to modernize the TTC and to transform the travelling experience for our customers,” TTC CEO Andy Byford said in a statement Wednesday.
The two agencies also signed a master agreement on building, managing and operating the new light-rail transit (LRT) lines.
The province is paying $8.4 billion to build LRT lines on Eglinton Avenue, Finch Avenue West, Sheppard Avenue East and along the Scarborough RT route.
The project is part of the Metrolinx Big Move plan.
