John Krasinski: ‘The Office’ has given me everything

John Krasinski’s time on NBC’s comedy The Office is almost over, and the handsome actor is already keeping busy with film projects. But Kransinski will forever be grateful for the opportunity to play Jim Halpert.

After nine seasons as Dunder Mifflin’s resident prankster and voice of reason, Krasinski admits that he nearly quit acting altogether before landing the pivotal role in 2005. He was ready to give up performing until his mother convinced him to keep going, Krasinski told the Today show on Dec. 3.

Seven years later, Krasinski, 33, is not only acting, he’s also directed and written screenplays — and he’s married to a fellow actor, British beauty Emily Blunt, whom he wed in July 2010.

“It’s a little bit of an existential crisis after a while, because I wouldn’t have met my wife, I wouldn’t have been out in L.A.,” he told Matt Lauer. “Truly, when I say the show has given me everything, it’s given me everything.”

Although this is the final season for The Office, Krasinski’s future in Hollywood includes collaborations with Academy Award winner Matt Damon and his Good Will Hunting director Gus Van Sant.

Krasinski, who co-wrote the script for Van Sant’s new drama Promised Land with Damon, explained to Lauer that the two acting pals had to write around Damon’s full house.

“I just drove to his house every weekend. He wins by default with four little girls, and so that’s a very busy house that I have to go to him,” Krasinski explained of working with the star. “We actually wrote with children climbing all over him, and he was doing bath time and dinner and everything, and we still got it done.”
