City Carol Sing set for Saturday at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church

The annual City Carol Sing for charity is set for Dec. 15 and we’d love for you to join us for an afternoon of music.

The concert, hosted by CityNews anchor Gord Martineau, will take place at Toronto’s Yorkminster Park Baptist Church at 2 p.m. The church can hold 1,700 people and admission is free with a donation.

The church is located 1585 Yonge St., north of St. Clair Avenue. The concert will be recorded for a one-hour special that will begin airing on Citytv on Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. and will run throughout the holiday season.

Some of this country’s finest singers will converge in midtown to support Toronto’s Churches-on-the-Hill Food Bank and Daily Bread Food Bank.

Tenor Richard Margison and his daughter, soprano Lauren Margison, will perform for the second year in a row, and they’ll be joined by baritone Russell Braun.

The concert will also feature traditional Christmas carols performed by the Canadian Children’s Opera Company and the True North Brass, accompanied by William Maddox on the organ.

The Larkin Singers and choirs from Christ Church Deer Park and Yorkminster Park Baptist Church will also perform, and award-winning actress Fiona Reid – of Kings of Kensington – will give a reading.
