Toronto fire crews battle 2-alarm blaze in west end

A vacant house in Toronto’s west end went up in flames on Wednesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the home on Follis Avenue, near Bathurst and Dupont streets, just before 2 a.m.

Massive flames were seen shooting from the top of the house, which crews believe was undergoing renovations at the time.

No one was home at the time of the fire but nearby homes were evacuated. About 20 people took shelter in TTC buses.

No one was injured and there’s no word yet on the cost of the damage.

The fire forced TTC vehicles to divert around the intersection, including the 7 Bathurst bus and the 512 St. Clair streetcar. Shuttle buses were in use on St. Clair.
