Man wanted in 2 hit-and-run incidents arrested

Toronto police have charged a man wanted in two separate hit-and-run crashes that left three people injured.
Steven Paul Brunswick, 47, was taken into custody after a police chase near Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West early on Thursday morning.
He was allegedly driving a stolen pickup truck when he was stopped. Brunswick then took off on foot but was arrested a short time later.
He faces 33 charges, including attempted murder, theft, break and enter, failing to stop for police and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
Brunswick allegedly stole a Mercedes-Benz from a Toronto home on Dec. 1 and was then spotted driving the car near Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive on Friday.
Police tried to pull over the driver, but he jumped a curb and raced down a sidewalk packed with pedestrians. Three people had minor injuries.
Police say Brunswick and a woman who was also in the vehicle were involved in a robbery at a nearby Winners store before the hit and run.
Saying it was like “a scene from Hollywood,” a witness told CityNews he saw police draw their guns to try and stop the stolen black Mercedes.
On Wednesday, Brunswick was again spotted in an allegedly stolen car, this time a Volkswagen Golf.
Police tried to stop him but he hit the two cruisers that were attempting to box him in near Bathurst and Lawrence Avenue West and was able to escape.
Brunswick will appear in court on Thursday.
