Thornhill woman claims $50M Lotto Max jackpot

A Thornhill woman is set to enjoy an extra special holiday season this year.

Susan Flam, an author, was the single-ticket winner of Friday’s $50 million Lotto Max jackpot.

Flam, who wrote the book “Choices: Lemons or Chocolates” about her 30-year-plus struggle with chronic illnesses and depression, picked up her cheque Monday afternoon at OLG headquarters.

“For me, this is the best pay it forward I could ask for. This is not going to change my life – it’s what I can do for others that will make me happy!” she said.

Flam explained she was expecting the holiday season to be quiet and was just heading up north when she checked her ticket.

Friday’s draw marked the second $50-million win in Ontario in the past few weeks. The winning ticket for the massive draw on Nov. 30 was sold in Cambridge. That prize has yet to be claimed.

The OLG says Ontarians have won all or part of six $50-million Lotto Max jackpots this year alone.
