Bieber to host SNL: report

Canada’s own Justin Bieber is set to follow in the footsteps of fellow countrymen Jim Carrey and Martin Short as he hosts Saturday Night Live next month, according to Billboard magazine.

The magazine said a source confirmed the Feb. 9 gig, which Bieber hinted at on Twitter on Monday.

Bieber most recently appeared on SNL on April 10, 2010, when he was the musical guest alongside host Tina Fey. In addition to performing the songs Baby and U Smile, he also popped up in Fey’s monologue and in a skit where she played his much older teacher.

Bieber will both host and perform on the show, a double feat most recently done by Bruno Mars.

Bieber will release an acoustic album on Jan. 29 and it’s likely that his performances will feature stripped-down guitars, not his normal dancing-and-laser extravaganza.
