‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ moves to new time slot

Jimmy Kimmel Live has moved to a new time slot, bringing him head-to-head with late-night veterans David Letterman and Jay Leno.

The show, now in its 10th season, will air at 11:35 p.m. Eastern, the same time as Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Kimmel joked that starting his show earlier means that he’s now 25 minutes closer to his dream of hosting The View.

Actor Jennifer Aniston appeared on the first episode of his new show on Tuesday as did band No Doubt.

Aniston gave Kimmel a haircut live on-air and took a sledgehammer to his desk, saying that was “out with old, in with the new.”

“That is the new desk,” Kimmel said.

Jimmy Kimmel Live replaces news program Nightline. During his monologue, Kimmel joked that he would also be covering hard news.

“Did you know Honey Boo Boo’s mother is afraid of mayonnaise?” he said.
