Huron Heights Secondary School in Newmarket will remain closed Tuesday, following a fire over the weekend, the school says.
A recorded message on the school’s answering machine stated that the school was in the process of being cleaned and ventilated and that once that was completed air quality testing would be conducted.
“We anticipate reopening the school on January 16,” the recorded message stated.
Another update would be provided later Tuesday.
The blaze started in and was contained to the school’s photo lab on Sunday. It isn’t believed to be suspicious.
Damage to the lab was extensive.
