5 charged in Vaughan home invasion

Four men and one young offender have been charged after a home invasion and abduction in Vaughan on Wednesday, York regional police say.

Police say four of the men – two of them armed – entered a home on Solway Avenue, in the Keele Street and Major Mackenzie Drive area, around 11 a.m.

A 34-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were home at the time.

Police allege the accused beat the man, bound him and placed him in a car that was driven by the fifth suspect.

Officers saw the car taking off as they pulled up to the scene and gave chase. The pursuit ended in the Jane Street and Wilson Avenue area and three suspects were arrested in a takedown.

The man was rescued from the car.

The fourth suspect was arrested at a nearby mall and the fifth suspect was found in a garbage chute at an apartment complex.
Raymond Saah, 24, of Brampton; Derrick Osei, 21, of no fixed address; Davonie Senior, 21, of Toronto; Tervil Brown, 24, of Toronto; and a 17-year-old young offender of Vaughan, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, face numerous offences including kidnapping using a firearm, forcible confinement and robbery with a firearm.

They were scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
