‘La Bohème,’ ‘Don Quichotte’ launch new opera season

The Canadian Opera Company will start the 2013 season with a bang, running La Bohème for the month of October, general director Alexander Neef announced Wednesday.
Also in October, Ben Heppner will take on the role of Peter Grimes in the opera with the same name.
Other operas playing at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts are Cosi fan tutte, Un ballo in maschera, Hercules, Roberto Devereux and Don Quichotte.
Toronto’s Oscar-nominated director Atom Egoyan will direct Cosi fan tutte and three stars of the production were on hand for Wednesday’s announcement.
Mezzo-soprano Rihab Chaieb, bass-baritone Neil Craighead and lyric soprano Sasha Djihanian all performed at the Four Seasons
Cosi fan tutte will run Jan. 18, 2014, to Feb. 21, 2014.
