Environment Canada warns of freezing rain for Monday commute

After a snap of chilly weather that left many of us bundled up, some warmer weather is on its way to the Greater Toronto Area.

The large shift in temperature won’t come without some ill-effects, however, with a mixture of snow, freezing rain and rain expected over the next several days.

Environment Canada has issued a special-weather statement for much of Southern Ontario, including the GTA, warning of freezing rain for the Monday morning commute.

Snow overnight Sunday and early Monday is forecast to change to freezing rain later Monday morning due to a warm front approaching from the southwest. The freezing rain will then turn to rain by the afternoon.

Following the rain we’ll get several days of warm weather, with temperatures expected to hit 11 C on Wednesday.

By the weekend we’ll be back to the cold, however, with temperatures once again dropping well below the freezing mark.
