Man arrested after woman dismembered in Kitchener

Police have arrested a man in the death of Kelsey Louise Felker, 24, whose torso was found in Kitchener last Saturday.

The 37-year-old Kitchener man, whose name hasn’t been disclosed, was arrested early Thursday morning without incident and remains in custody.

He will be formally charged with first-degree murder and indignity to a dead human body later Thursday or Friday. No other arrests were expected, Waterloo regional police said.

Felker’s remains were found in a garbage bin behind a city apartment on Saturday morning.

Her torso was clothed in a black, short-sleeved T-shirt with the words “Forget princess, I want to be a vampire” on the front.

On Tuesday, police said information from the public regarding the black T-shirt was an important factor in identifying Felker.

Waterloo police spokesman Olaf Heinzel says police are still searching for other body parts.

“We’re still moving forward collecting evidence, collecting information and attempting to identify where other remains may be located,” he said.

“The search is still on.”

An autopsy, which began Monday, is continuing, police said.
