Toronto takes centre stage in Drake’s latest video

Shoppers Drug Mart, an indoor City of Toronto soccer pitch and the CN Tower sit among luxury cars, gold chains and scantily-clad dancers in the world of hip hop videos thanks to local rap star Drake.

The Toronto-born actor-turned-music-star released the video for his latest single, Started From The Bottom, on Sunday – the same day he picked up his first Grammy award for his album Take Care.

Not only is the video shot in Toronto, it was directed by famed music video director Director X, who was also born and raised in the city. The song is the first single off of Drake’s third album Nothing Was The Same.

The video opens with kids playing on a soccer field emblazoned with a City of Toronto logo. It then cuts to him dancing down a street amid some snowfall. A chunk of the video takes place in a Shoppers Drug Mart where he and his friends dance down the aisles after he’s promoted to night manager.

Then, Drake is seen partying with friends in a bowling alley. The city skyline is later showcased when he whizzes by in a private jet.
