Steve Martin, Willie Nelson to perform at Toronto Jazz Festival

Comedian and musician Steve Martin will perform at this year’s Toronto Jazz Festival, joining country superstar Willie Nelson, Mavis Staples, Nikki Yanofsky and Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings.

The 10-day event kicks off on June 20 and runs until June 29.

Willie Nelson & Family will open the festival at Massey Hall, while Martin, a Grammy Award-winning banjoist, will close out the event with the Steep Canyon Rangers and special guest Edie Brickell.

With the exception of Nelson’s gig, all of the headline shows will be at Nathan Phillips Square, but there are more than 60 concert locations across the city.

About half a million people are expected to attend.

Tickets for the 27th annual TD Toronto Jazz Festival are on sale Thursday.
