A 25-year-old man was stabbed numerous times at Dundas West subway station on Wednesday afternoon, Toronto police say.
Const. Wendy Drummond says it happened around 3:45 p.m. and CityNews has learned the stabbing occurred on a bus in the bus platform area.
The victim suffered serious injuries to the arm and torso. He was transported to a local trauma centre.
Police say the assault happened after an altercation between the victim and the suspect.
A male in his 20s was arrested a short time later and charged with aggravated assault. Officials were also able to locate a woman considered to be a person of interest but after questioning she was cleared of any involvement.
A witness named Sean said he saw the victim in distress.
“I came up the stairs (from the subway)…someone was screaming, ‘I’ve been stabbed, I’ve been stabbed!’ ” he recalled.
TTC trains were bypassing the Dundas West station and 40 Junction buses were being diverted because of the police investigation, the TTC said.
