Woman sexually assaulted in broad daylight in downtown

Toronto police are looking for witnesses and a Good Samaritan who came to the aid of a woman after she was sexually assaulted in broad daylight.

The woman was allegedly attacked near Wellesley and Sherbourne streets around 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say the 33-year-old woman was walking on Wellesley toward Homewood Avenue when a man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

He then fled east on Wellesley.

Several witnesses saw the attack and another woman came to help. Police are looking to speak to that woman as well as anyone who saw the assault.

The suspect is possibly white with a dark complexion or brown with a light complexion, five-feet-five-inches tall, 20 to 40 years old, with a thin build and a very slight moustache.

He was wearing a three-quarter-length dark green, bulky, nylon winter jacket with a hood and light grey pants. The hood may have had fur around the trim.
