Iran may sue the Hollywood filmmakers of Argo, including Ben Affleck and George Clooney.
First, Iran said it would produce its own cinematic response to the Oscar-winning film.
Now, Tehran plans to sue Hollywood filmmakers who contribute to the production of such “anti-Iran” propaganda films. Government officials claim the award-winning movie presents an “unrealistic portrayal” of Iran during the 1979 hostage crisis.
State-run Press TV reports that Iranian officials have talked to an “internationally-renowned” French lawyer about filing such a suit.
“I will defend Iran against the films like Argo, which are produced in Hollywood to distort the country’s image,” lawyer Isabelle Coutant-Peyre said, according to the Press TV report.
Argo has not been released in Iran.
