Fire destroys horse barn in Bradford

A massive fire at a farm in Bradford has left thirty horses without shelter.

The blaze broke out Wednesday evening in a barn at the J.Mor.Farms near 6th Line and Highway 88.

All of the horses were safely evacuated from the barn however three dogs died.

Part of the barn is used by Perfectly Stable Farms, a program that helps underprivileged children build a relationship with animals.

Julie Parsons, founder of Perfectly Stable Farms, told CityNews the barn was destroyed.

“Everything is gone now, the barn burned to the ground,” she said. “We’re just not sure how we’re going to cope with having absolutely no equipment. The kids can’t ride anymore. There’s no saddles left, there’s no bridals left, there’s no horse food, there’s no horse anything left.”

She says neighbours have helped by donating blankets but there is no housing for the horses, two of which are ready to foal at any time.
