Daily Bread hopes to raise $200K in spring food drive

Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank is hoping to collect $200,000 and 100,000 pounds of food over the course of its 2013 spring food drive.

The money goes a long way toward helping the organization buy fresh food like eggs and vegetables, executive director Gail Nyberg said at a Scarborough Loblaws Wednesday morning.

“We can buy the product that we need and we’re always very happy to receive money,” Nyberg told Breakfast Television.

The money is also used to pay for gas, as Daily Bread trucks food donations to 170 member agencies.
