Frank Ferragine shaving head for Cops for Cancer event

Breakfast Television’s Frank Ferragine along with police chief Bill Blair and his deputy chief Mike Federico will shave their heads on Saturday to raise money for cancer research.

The cause is very close to Ferragine’s heart.

“My brother passed from cancer in 1998,” Ferragine tweeted.

“My hair is not a big deal!!”

Tony Ferragine had Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. He was 22.

Frank Ferragine will join Toronto and Ontario police officers at Yorkdale Shopping Centre for the Cops for Cancer fundraiser at noon.

Ferragine said he would only shave his head if donors raised $60,000. By Friday, $65,000 had been raised for the Canadian Cancer Society.

“So as of Monday, I will be aerodynamic,” he joked on Breakfast Television.

“My son Gavin – who is six – will be shaving my hair,” he said.

Donations will also be accepted at the mall. Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Dave Woodford will be placed in a mock jail — complete with bars — during the fundraiser and will only be allowed out if enough “bail money” is collected.

Kiss 92.5 radio host Maurie Sherman will oversee the mock jail.

The fundraiser runs from noon to 4 p.m. at Yorkdale mall. Click here for more info.
