The Inside Story: Widow attempts to eliminate stigma of suicide

Mary Muir never expected to be an activist but she also didn’t plan to be a widow at the age of  50.

When her husband James took his own life last year she decided to grieve publicly. She organized the first annual James’ Journey Walk to help raise awareness for mental illness and try to eliminate the stigma of suicide.

She has also teamed up with Delisle Youth Services, which helps raise money to help young people struggling with mental illness. Donations can be made in James’ name at www.delisleyouth.org.
