Police have charged a 32-year-old Toronto man who allegedly targeted a woman parked at a west-end coffee shop and sexually assaulted her.
The woman, 61, told officers she was in her car near Finch Avenue West and Weston Road around 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, when a man jumped into her car, demanded cash and credit cards and ordered her to drive. He told her he had a gun, though she never saw one.
She said the suspect directed her to a secluded area near Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue West and sexually assaulted her.
He then allegedly drove to a bank, withdrew money from her account and ditched the woman’s car near Finch and Weston.
Officers arrested Shaun Carlson just before 7 p.m. Wednesday and charged him with eight offences, including kidnapping, forcible confinement, sexual assault and robbery.
He was due to appear in court on Thursday morning.
