Police probing fatal Queen streetcar crash

Toronto police are investigating after a 60-year-old man was struck and killed by a streetcar on Sunday morning.

Police say the man got out of an eastbound streetcar on Queen Street near Kingston Road around 1:40 a.m.

He stepped on the streetcar island and began walking west. He stumbled off the island and onto the street, where he was struck by a second eastbound streetcar, police said.

He was trapped under the rear wheels of the streetcar and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the streetcar was unaware of the incident until the street car was stopped a few blocks away.

His name has not been released.

There’s no word yet on charges.
