Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis gathered on the red carpet Monday night in Los Angeles for the premiere of The Hangover Part III, the final film in the popular comedy franchise that has made stars out of the cast.
The feeling at the premiere was one of nostalgia and emotions ran high as the actors looked back on what has been a very good run.
“It was kind of bitter sweet,” explained Cooper, on how he felt about saying good-bye to the franchise that has made him a major Hollywood actor.
“We started at the press junket and we all sorted of were kind of shocked at how emotional it is at the ending of the road. It is nice that we kind of have a two-week tour to ritualistically say good-bye.”
Actor Ken Jeong, who plays the despicable villain Mr. Chow, turned serious when asked about how things are different.
“It just changed my life from black-and-white to technicolor,” said Jeong. “Everything I owe is to the first Hangover. To be a part of a third one, much less a second one, is an embarrassment of riches at this time. Seeing everyone together, you really get a sense of perspective, that yeah, it is kind of sad . But, at the same time, not many actors get to do this once, we get to do this three times.”
The third and final film in director Todd Phillips’ record-shattering comedy franchise, The Hangover Part III is the epic conclusion to an incomparable odyssey of mayhem and bad decisions, in which the guys must finish what they started by going back to where it all began: Las Vegas.
This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.
Galifianakis understands that while some things have changed as a result of the films popularity, their friendships have not.
“As a comic, I try not to let my life shift so much, that’s bad news,” said Galifianakis. “If you forget what brought you there in the first place, that’s bad news. It’s nothing much has changed, even the guys themselves haven’t changed at all.”
The film also stars Heather Graham and Justin Bartha.
The Hangover Part III opens in the U.S. on May 23.
