The City of Vaughan has declared its interest in hosting a GTA casino after an eight-hour meeting.
The final vote came around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, and Vaughan will now notify Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. of its interest.
Two potential locations have been identified — one at the Highway 407 subway station and one at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
Meanwhile, Markham city council voted against reopening a debate over a proposed casino. The motion was rejected by a vote of 9-4.
Both decisions came one week after Toronto city council voted against a downtown casino and against expansion at Woodbine.
