Convicted sex offender Gordon Stuckless to face more charges

More criminal charges are expected against convicted sex offender Gordon Stuckless, a court heard Thursday.

Stuckless’s case was before the courts on Thursday morning in Toronto but the accused wasn’t present.

Additional charges are expected against the former Maple Leaf Gardens usher by York regional police, after more people came forward and were interviewed, the court heard. But there was no immediate word on when they would be laid.

Stuckless, 64, was convicted in 1997 for sexually assaulting 24 boys while he was an usher at Maple Leaf Gardens between 1969 and 1988. He served two-thirds of his sentences before being paroled in 2001.

He now faces 49 new charges laid in recent weeks by York and Toronto police. The new charges include indecent assault of males, gross indecency and buggery.

Last month, Toronto police said latest victims came forward with historical complaints dating back to the 1960s and 1970s, while Stuckless worked as a teacher and as a volunteer at a local community centre and local sports clubs.

He’s also accused of assaults between 1982 and 1985, while he worked as an assistant teacher at a Richmond Hill school.

Stuckless remains under house arrest and can only leave his place with his brother, the court heard.

His next court date is June 27 for a pre-trial hearing.
