Search for missing man in Humber River resumes

Toronto police now say that the search for a missing man in the Humber River has resumed after earlier saying that a body had been found.

They now say that a body hasn’t been located and are continuing their search for a man who dove into the waters, near Lawrence Avenue West and Old Mill Road, to rescue his dog around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old man was swept away but his pet made it out safely.

The search resumed Thursday morning after it was suspended overnight to ensure the safety of the rescue crew, authorities said.

With heavy flooding hitting parts of the GTA early Wednesday morning, police warned the public not to approach fast-moving rivers.
