Lung transplant recipient hopes Oakville community will help wedding dream come true

It has been a tough year for Oakville couple Keith Childerhose and his partner Sarah Taylor.

After months of illness Childerhose finally got a lifesaving lung transplant earlier this year. Taylor was by his side during the long process and two weeks after the transplant Childerhose decided to propose on Valentine’s Day.

The pair is now hoping the community will help them make another dream come true.

They’re finalists in the Wedding Saviour’s Dream Wedding Contest.

Taylor told 680News as part of the contest they have a challenge to raise as much food as they can for their local food bank – Kerr Street Ministries in Oakville.

“We’ve been quite overwhelmed with the positive response within our community and neighbouring communities,” Taylor said.

“There’s an amazing after school program called Kicks for Kids and the people who run the Burlington and Oakville locations of those, they felt very drawn to our story for personal reasons.”

Taylor continued to explain: “they had a son who was waiting for a kidney transplant from his mother actually and unfortunately he passed away while waiting. They had been following our personal story and they have volunteered both their Burlington and Oakville locations as drop-off spots.”

The couple hopes to raise at least 35,000-pounds of food.
