A 57-year-old cyclist is dead after he was struck by an SUV in Milton on Monday night.
The collision happened at Main Street East and Wilson Drive around 9:30 p.m., Halton police confirm.
Both the cyclist and the driver were heading east at the time of the crash. The driver, a 62-year-old man, was not injured. He remained on the scene.
“At present, the investigation is in its infancy and we’d like to appeal to any witnesses to come forward,” Det.-Const. Oliver Caves said.
Rain and wet roads may have been a factor.
Police said the family of the cyclist has been notified and his name will not be released. He was estranged from his family, police said, and had no fixed address.
