LCBO suggests gift cards for teachers

The latest Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) ad campaign suggests gift cards are the perfect end-of-year present for a teacher.
The ad on the LCBO website reads, “Thank your teacher for a great year with an LCBO gift card.” There’s also a link to purchase the gift card online.
The phrasing – “thank your teacher” – has led to concern the ads target children, not their parents.
While children and other minors cannot purchase liquor, they can purchase gift cards at LCBO stores. However, it’s unlikely that many children buy their own end-of-year presents for teachers.
