Whitby man faces attempted murder after stabbing

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Whitby on Sunday morning, Durham regional police say.
A 36-year-old man was stabbed around 11:30 a.m. in the Pilkington Crescent area, near Brock Street North and Manning Road.
He remains in hospital in critical but stable condition.
Police say the victim knew his attacker and the two were involved in a verbal dispute which later became violent.
Richard Atanasoff, 47, of Whitby, was charged with attempted murder and several weapons offences. He remains in custody.
