Friday’s Lotto Max jackpot an estimated $50M

This Friday’s Lotto Max jackpot is another whopper, estimated at $50 million.

“Sales are strong, they always are,” Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. spokesperson Don Pister told Citynews.ca.

Half of the entire week’s sales take place the Friday of the draw, with many of the day’s sales coming during the commute home – just after 4 p.m. , the OLG said.

But there’s a strict 9 p.m. cut-off time and gamblers are encouraged to purchase their tickets early to avoid long lines.

The last $50 million win was just over one month ago, when a single winning ticket was sold in Quebec. During that same May 31 draw, the OLG awarded $20 million in other prizes.

Ticket sales across Canada for that jackpot were approximately $42.1 million.

Last December, a Thornhill woman also took home $50 million – but the chances of that are slim. The odds of a single ticket winning the big $50-million jackpot are approximately 1 in 28.6 million.

The chances of winning the smallest prize, a free play, are nearly 1 in 8.
