Toronto lawyer unfazed after Ferrari engulfed by raw sewage

A Toronto lawyer whose Ferrari was trapped in raw sewage during Monday’s storm is taking it all in stride.

Howard Levitt was on Lower Simcoe Street on his way to the Billy Bishop Airport when water started flooding out of the sewers and trapped his car.

The labour lawyer left his stalled Ferrari California where it was, grabbed his suitcases from the trunk and took a cab over to the airport, which was by then shut down.

He got to Pearson and caught the last flight out to Ottawa, arriving around 3 a.m.

The silver lining: he won the case for his client the next day.

“It was a day I’m not gonna forget quickly,” Levitt told CityNews.

“I loved [the car]. It was great. But again, even though the car was great, at the end of the day, cars can be replaced. No one was injured.”

Levitt said the car, which he bought for a “big” birthday, is covered by insurance.

In the meantime, he’s back behind the wheel of his early-model Viper.
