Two family pets are lucky to be alive after a fire broke out in the kitchen of a west-end basement apartment.
Fire crews were called to a home on Locksley Avenue, in the Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West area around 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Despite heavy smoke firefighters made quick work of the blaze.
Officials say no one was injured, but two cats were discovered in the home and had to be given oxygen at the scene.
There has been no word on what caused the fire.
