King & Spadina to close for 2 weeks for TTC track work

Another busy Toronto intersection will shut down for two weeks for streetcar track work.

On Tuesday at 10 a.m., the TTC will start replacing the rails at King Street West and Spadina Avenue and cars will be rerouted.

East-west alternatives are Front, Adelaide and Queen streets. Drivers going north or south can use Bathurst Street or University Avenue.

All businesses in the area will be accessible to pedestrians.

The intersection will reopen on Aug. 20 at 6 a.m.

TTC repair work will also close down the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Cherry Street from 9:30 a.m. on Friday to 5 a.m. on Tuesday.

Eastbound traffic on Eastern will be diverted to Sumach Street, while westbound traffic will be diverted along Richmond Street.

Motorists travelling on the Don Valley Parkway ramp to Richmond will not be able to access Eastern.

Alternate eastbound and westbound routes include Queen or King. Parliament and Jarvis streets are alternatives for northbound and southbound traffic.

Local traffic will be maintained during the construction period.

The TTC is also working on the tracks at Richmond and York streets, which will be closed until Aug. 17.
