Weekend woes for drivers, TTC riders

It’s going to be a frustrating weekend for drivers and transit riders in Toronto with road closures and a partial subway closure.

Subway service is scheduled to be shut down this weekend from Bloor to St. George stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina line due to signal upgrades.

Also, the intersection of Spadina Avenue and King Street West is closed for TTC track replacement work.

Danforth Avenue will also be closed from Broadview to Jones avenues, from Friday at 11 a.m. to Sunday at 11:59 p.m. for the Taste of the Danforth.

Intersections 30-metres north and south from Broadview to Jones avenues will also be closed for the event.

Events

Taste of the Danforth (Friday-Sunday closure)
The following road closures will be in effect from Friday at 11 a.m. to Sunday at 11:59 p.m.:

• Danforth Avenue will be closed from Broadview to Jones avenues
• Intersections 30-metres north and south from Broadview to Jones avenues will also be closed.

Wheels on the Danforth and Fun in the Park (Saturday closure)
Danforth Ave., from Warden to Byng avenues, and Danforth Rd. from Landry to Danforth avenues, will be closed in both directions on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 11:59 p.m.

TTC closures

Weekend subway closure for signal upgrades

• Subway service is scheduled to be shut down this weekend from Bloor to St. George stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina line due to signal upgrades.
• Shuttle buses will run every three minutes between St. George and Bloor stations.
• Regular subway service will resume on Monday at 6 a.m.

Pape station closure for renos

• Pape station is scheduled to be closed to the public Aug. 19-30 for renovation work.
• During the closure, subway trains will not stop at Pape station and buses will be on diversion. Click here for the full story.

Road closures

TTC track repair at Richmond and York

• The intersection at Richmond and York streets are scheduled to be closed until Aug. 17 for reconstruction work on TTC streetcar tracks.
• Suggested alternative routes for private vehicles are Queen Street West, Wellington Street West and King Street West.
• Pedestrian access to sidewalks will be maintained, the city said.

TTC track replacement at Spadina and King
The intersection of Spadina Ave. and King St. W. is scheduled to be closed in all four directions until Aug. 20 at 6 a.m. for TTC track replacement work. Click here for the full story.

Bayview closure for gas pipeline work
Bayview Ave., from River to Lower River streets, is scheduled to be closed for six weeks starting Aug. 6 for work on the Don Valley natural gas pipeline.

Finch closure for GO railway work
Finch Ave., from Milliken Blvd. to Baylawn Dr., will be closed in both directions from Friday at 8 p.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. due to work on a GO Transit railway crossing.

Alternative east-west routes are Huntingwood Dr. or McNicoll Ave.

Gardiner repairs
Two eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway, from Jarvis Street to the Don Roadway, are scheduled to be closed until Dec. 1.
