5 in hospital after Hwy. 407 crash in Milton

One person has been air-lifted to hospital with serious injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Milton on Tuesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police Const. Lisa MacIntyre said a flat-bed truck and a straight truck collided on Highway 407 at Britannia Road around 7:30 a.m.

A third vehicle, a tractor-trailer, was also involved when the driver swerved to avoid the debris.

The three men inside the flat-bed truck were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the other truck also went to a local hospital. The passenger in that truck was airlifted to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto with serious injuries.

No one in the tractor-trailer was injured.

The westbound lanes of the highway were closed to Highway 403 for the investigation and are expected to remain closed until 2 p.m.
