Milton woman due in court after grandson dies in hot car

A 51-year-old Milton woman is due in court on Wednesday to face charges related to the death of her grandson in a hot car.

It’s alleged Leslie McDonald left her two-year-old grandson, Maximus Huyskens, in a car on a hot day in late June and he died.

At the time, the boy’s father was at work and his mother was at an appointment.

Halton police have charged McDonald with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessaries of life.

If convicted of the first charge, she could get a life sentence. Failing to provide the necessaries of life carries a maximum jail term of five years.
