TTC subway collector robbed at gunpoint

A TTC collector was robbed at gunpoint at Christie subway station just before midnight, Toronto police say.

The holdup happened about 11:55 p.m. on Monday, Const. Victor Kwong told CityNews.

The suspect pointed a gun at the TTC worker in the collector booth and fled into Christie Pits Park with an undisclosed amount of cash. The firearm wasn’t fired and the collector was unharmed.

The suspect is described as 25 years old between five-foot-10 and six-feet tall and wearing a black hoodie, black pants and bandana.

Kwong said investigators are going through surveillance video and a forensics unit was on the scene Tuesday morning.

Police haven’t determined yet if the suspect is behind other ones, including the Dupont robbery on Feb. 26, 2012. The holdup squad has taken over the investigation, Kwong said.

Officials from the TTC couldn’t be immediately reached.
