Suspect sought in Vaughan body shop shooting

York regional police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot in the stomach at a Vaughan body shop on Thursday.

The 29-year-old victim was shot multiple times but his injuries are not life-threatening. He is in hospital in stable condition, police said Friday.

The incident happened on Freshway Drive, near Jane Street and Steeles Avenue, around 7 p.m.

His friends drove him to a nearby gas station where they called 911.

Police said the victim and the shooter got into an altercation at the auto body shop.

No arrests have been made.

The suspect is black, 38 to 40 years old, five-foot-eight to five-foot-nine, with a heavy build. He was wearing a blue T-shirt.
